Hey y’all! Hope everyone has been enjoying these art projects for the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I do not have pictures to go with either one of the projects for today, but they are pretty self explanatory. If you are creating these projects or any of the past ones please feel free to comment with pictures of your art or email them to me, I would love to see them!

Lesson 1  |  Under the Table

PreK - 2nd Grade

Supplies:

  • Paper

  • Pencil

  • Painters Tape

  • Crayons, Colored Pencils, Markers, or Paint (your preference)

  • Small Table (or bench)

Steps:

  1. When Michelangelo was painting the ceiling of Sistine Chapel he had to do it laying down on scaffolding and painting  above him. So thats what you're doing, kind of, for this project!

  2. Tape your paper to the underside of a small table or bench.

  3. Lay under the table and start drawing and coloring/painting. You can draw whatever but if you need some inspiration use some magazines to find ideas.

Lesson 2  |  Monster Sculptures

3rd - 6th Grade

Supplies:

  • 2 cups Flour

  • 1 cup Salt

  • 1 cup Water

  • Mixing Bowl

  • Paint (optional)

Steps:

  1. Start by making your clay. Mix together the flour and salt and then slowly add in the water. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes. If the dough is too dry add a little water, if too sticky add a little more flour.

  2. Once you have your clay to the right consistency you're going to start you sculpture! Michelangelo was most know for his sculptures of the human figure, but for this project you're going to create the figure of a monster! Be as creative as you can but include the following body parts on your monster; HEAD, BODY, EYE(s), HANDS (they don't have to have 5 fingers though!), FEET (they don’t have to have toes!)

  3. Once you are finished sculpting, let it dry over night.

  4. After it’s dry feel free to paint it with acrylic paint!
